Gentlemen:

.ru

Subject:

Preoperational Radiation Protection / Radioactive Waste Program Review As part of the Region I preoperational phase inspection program of your facility, a team from our Facility Radiological Protection Section will visit the Shoreham Nuclear Power Station during September, 1981.

The team will meet with those members of your supervisory staff responsible for radiation protection and radioactive waste processing and shipment to discuss the proposed organization, staffing, training and procedures for carrying out these programs.

Further, existing facilities and equipment will be examined and scheduled receipt, installation, calibration and preoperational tests will be discussed.

This early appraisal of your programs should be mutually beneficial.

It will serve to highlight areas of particular importance and will provide a data base to enable this office to track the status of the programs under review.

Mr. Peter Knapp, Chief of our Facility Radiological Protection Section will contact the Shoreham site to make arrangements for the visit. We appreciate your cooperation with us.

Sincerely,
