Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
In accordance with the reporting requirements of Connecticut Yankee Technical Specifications, Section 6.9.2.a, the following Preliminary Report LER 77-4/lP concerning leaks in the IB boric acid pump suction piping is hereby submitted. 13, 1977 at 1400 hours while removing insulation to repair the On April heat tracing on the "B" boric acid pump suction line, two elbows were observed to have through wall cracks. The leaks were sealed with stainless steel devcon similar to the piping material. The system is 150#, 2500F vith A312 stainless steel elbows. A preliminary investigation determined that the piping system will perform its intended normal and safety related functions. ) A follow up report will be submitted in 14 days.
