Joseph M.
IIe nd r i e, Chairman U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C.
20555
Dear Chairman llend rie:
I understand that you have been asked by certain Pennsylvanians to expedite the reopening of the Unit I reactor at Three Mile Island. As a resident of the liarrisburg area, I am adamantly opposed to the reopening of Unit 1, and am appalled by that possibility.
Metropolitan Edison's repeated safety violations and blatant d isre>;a rd o f NRC regulat ions make it imperative that the plant stay shut down.
I urge you on behalf of the people who live in this area, who have already been exposed to the most serious health risks (not to mention mental anguish), to do everything in your power to prevent another accident that "could not happen."
The only way to accomplich this is to close T'I permanentl y.
Sincerely, Y
