Docket Nos. 50-445A (Comanche Peak Steam Electric . 50-446A Station, Units 1 and 2) )

TUGCO'S MOTION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME Pursuant to 10 C.F.R. 52.740b, S2.741. and S2.711, Texas Utilities Generating Company, et al ("TUGCO") , applicant in the captioned Comanche Peak matter and a party intervenor in the captioned South Texas matter, hereby moves for an extension of time to and including March 5, 1979 within which to file answers or objections, produce documents, or otherwise plead with respect to the "NRC Staff's Initial Interrogatories and Requests for Production of Documents to Houston Lighting & Power Company and Texas Utilities Generating Company". ~1/

The subjact interrogatories and document requests are quite extensive and will require a very considerable effort to prepare responses. This task cannot be accomplished within the time routinely allowed by NRC regulations.

If We have informally discussed with the NRC Staff arrange-ments to provide a substantial portion of the responses at an earlier date.

790205603Y

TUGCO therefore moves that the time within which it may answer o* otherwise respond or plead with respect to the NRC's interrogatories and requests for production of documents be extended to and including March 5, 1979. Counsel for the NRC has been informed of our request for an extension and has indicated that he intends to file promptly a brief formal response.

. Respectfully submitted,

/
