REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - BULLETIN 96-01, "CONTROL ROD INSERTION TIMES," TURKEY POINT UNITS 3 AND 4 (TAC NOS.

Dear Hr. Plunkett:
On March 8, 1996 the NRC issued Bulletin (BL) 96-01, "Control Rod Insertion Problems," to alert licensees to problems encountered during recent events in which control rods failed to completely insert upon a scram signal.
In
- addition, BL 96-01 requested that licensees'ssess the operability of control rods, particularly in high burnup fuel assemblies.
You responded to BL 96-01'y letters dated April 5, and Hay 1, 1996.
We are evaluating your response to BL 96-01 and have determined. that additional information is necessary in order to complete our review.
We request that you forward the data from the Turkey Point Unit 4 End-of-Cycle 15 rod control cluster assembly, drag testing for our review.
The data should include a table listing the core location, fuel assembly identification, burnup at the time of the'est, the drag forces measured in the dashpot, and the drag forces measured in-the thimble tube region:
Please provide the requested information within 30 days of the receipt of this letter.
