2 Docket No. 50-3
Dear Licensing Board ttembers:
Reference is made to the two Petitions to Intervene that have been filed by Parsons 5 Hhittemore, Inc., et al., (petitioners) before two Atomic Safety and Licensing Boards, the various pleadings filed in response thereto and
'he recent flurry of correspondence that has been hand delivered in the captioned matter.
In addition to the evolving and complex procedural background referred to above it is now apparent from the pleadings and letters that a complex factual situation surrounds the petitioners and applicant as well, a situa-tion to which the Staff is not a party and of which it has no first hand knowledge.
It would appear from the pleadings and correspondence thus filed that the Staff should have additional knowledge of this complex situation before it can respond on the merits to the late intervention petition.
In order for the Staff to accurately assess this factual situation and then advise the Board of its position, the Staff requests a time. extension of ten
( 10) days from the receipt of the pleading filed by the applicant in answer to the intervention request within which to respond on the.merits to the late intervention request of petitioners.
