SUMMARY
OF MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 2, 1992, REGARDING INTEGRATED SCHEDULING PROGRAM This refers to the meeting conducted at the request of Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) at One White Flint North, Rockville, Maryland, on September 2, 1992. The purpose of the meeting was for CP&L to brief the NRC on the progress of their Integrated Scheduling Program (ISP).
A list of attendees and a copy of the CP&L handouts are enclosed (Enclosures 1 and 2).
This meeting is the third ISP meeting including the June 10, 1992, and July 29, 1992, ISP meetings with CP&L. During this meeting, CP&L discussed the prioritization process in the scheduling of projects within the scope of the ISP. The prioritization process will be applied to Level II ( NRC Commitment) and Level III (CP&L Initiatives) projects. Level I items (NRC Requirement),
projects with specific implementation dates in response to a rule, order or license condition, will not be scheduled with the ISP prioritization process.
For those other projects (Level II and Level III projects), the ISP will assign rankings through a Schedule Index. CP&L discussed the methodology and the use of probabilistic risk analysis data to generate the Schedule Index.
Following the meeting, CP&L provided the staff with a copy of the prioritization procedure, Nuclear Generation Group Manual (NGGM 305-05),
"Prioritization Process".
This procedure is now available in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
The staff informed CP&L that the final policy paper on ISP should be issued shortly, and no significant changes from the proposed policy paper are expected. The present draft Brunswick ISP contains a substantial update of the Level II projects. CP&L informed the staff that the next draft ISP will incorporate, in detail, the guidance of the Commission's ISP Policy paper regarding the scheduling of Level II items.
