Dear Chairwoman Allison MacFarlane:

As a small business operator, It is with great pleasure that I support the safe restart and operation of San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 2. Pacific Interpreting Services, Inc. is an Orange County based interpretation business serving workers compensation clients.

I am writing to express support for a fair and inclusive regulatory process currently underway for the proposed restart and operation of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) Unit 2. Southern California Edison should be allowed to restart and operate SONGS as proposed in their Return-to-Service Action Plan if the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) determines they have sufficiently completed the compensatory and corrective actions requested in the March 27, 2012 Confirmatory Action Letter.

Businesses depend on a reliable power system. SONGS serves a critical function of providing our regional transmission system with voltage support throughout the year; particularly in times of peak demand. Developing alternative sources of energy to offset the loss of power generated at SONGS may be necessary, but I am equally concerned that no source will be able to be put into place quickly enough to provide the immediate reliability that businesses need during peak conditions.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at (714) 565-0005 and/or contact me at iohni@pcinterp.com. Your full and utmost consideration is most appreciated. Thank you.

Sincerely, John Palacio General Manager Pacific Interpreting Services, Inc.
