Docket, Hearinl RA-D Fo t H/ea From: Nancy Allen [nallenl 1@myfairpoint.net]

Sent: Thursday, September 13, 2012 1:57 PM To: Docket, Hearing; Siarnacki, Anne

Subject:

comment on relicensing of Indian Point To the NRC, Indian Point nuclear plant should not receive a new license because it is situated too near a huge metropolitan area that will be devastated in an accidental release of radiation.

All nuclear plants leak and the older the plant the more leaks and other problems due to aging. Shutting nuclear plants as old as Indian Point and others will pave the way for alternative, renewable and efficient energy sources without the inherent dangers of nuclear power. NYC would be a nightmare in an evacuation. A state report http://www.newierseynewsroom.com/science-updates/indian-point-unnecessary-state-and-.rid-operators-concur/page-2 shows that NYC can do fine without Indian Point.

Also Indian Point relies on the Hudson River for cooling and with climate change coming fast that water will be too warm for efficient cooling.

For once, the NRC, and all nuclear plant owners, ought to act out of concern for the future rather than profit.

If Indian Point is not shut down by a licensing renewal it will be by voters.

Nancy Allen Maine DOCKETED USNRC September 13, 2012 (1:57 p.m.)
