SUMMARY
Jim Connell called to discuss the status of the review of the Jan. 15, 2010 exemption request. Told him that NSIR staff was still reviewing the specific details of Maine Yankee (MY) security plan licensing basis from the documentation provided by MY. He was told that it will take the staff some time to review and familiarize themselves with specific details of MY's approved security plan as documented by Rev 165 and supporting staff reviews and that this was being performed in conjunction with the 10CFR 73.55 exemption request to defer implementation. Jim wanted additional assurances that fence relocation change to the security plan could be performed under 10 CFR 50.54(p)(2), and that any decision on the CAS relocation exemption request would not affect the fence relocation. I told him that we believed that the CAS relocation exemption evaluation would have no impact on the fence relocation, and again referred him to the letter we sent to Maine Yankee on May 18, 2010 on this issue.
