CONFIRMATION OF INITIAL OPERATOR LICENSE EXAMINATIONS:
PERRY NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
Dear Mr. Bezilla:
In a letter dated July 30, 2009 (L-09-180), your staff requested we delete an initial license examination scheduled in January 2011. We have removed that examination from our calendar. In a letter dated April 14, 2009 (L-09-101), you requested we change the date of an examination scheduled to begin on May 3, 2010, to begin on June 14, 2010. We have re-scheduled that examination to begin on June 14, 2010, per your request. In a previous letter (L-08-182), you requested we schedule an examination to begin on January 9, 2012. That examination is still scheduled to begin on January 9, 2012. On-site validation of the examinations will occur approximately three weeks prior to the start of the examinations. In the unlikely event that we are unable to support an examination during the scheduled weeks, we will inform you immediately upon discovery of such conditions and make arrangements to administer the examination at a mutually acceptable date.
We understand that your staff will develop the examinations unless we determine it is necessary for the NRC to develop an examination. Your letters indicated that each examination will have more than nine applicants. Each examination has been scheduled for two weeks to accommodate this number of applicants. Please inform us if the number of applicants declines below ten as this will impact the examination schedule. Please inform us at your earliest opportunity if you discover you need to change the scheduled dates for the examinations.
A supplementary letter will be sent to the Perry Nuclear Power Plant Training Department approximately 120 days prior to the initial examination informing them of the chief examiner=s name. The letter will also outline examination security expectations, list the materials required by the NRC to conduct the examination, reconfirm the examination dates, and reconfirm the number of candidates you have in the training program.
