SUMMARY
OF APRIL 10, 2008, ANNUAL ASSESSMENT MEETING WITH EXELON GENERATING COMPANY On April 10, 2008, at 5:30 p.m., an Annual Assessment Meeting was conducted at the Limerick Energy Information Center between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Exelon Generating Company (Exelon). The NRC requested the meeting with Exelon management to discuss the NRCs assessment of the safety performance of the Limerick Generating Station (Limerick) for calendar year 2007.
The NRC presented and discussed its assessment of the safety performance of Limerick Units 1 and 2 for the period between January 1 through December 31, 2007. The NRC presentations included a discussion of the NRC mission, the Reactor Oversight Process, Limerick inspection activities during 2007, and 2007 performance assessment results. As part of the annual assessment meeting, Exelon presented an overview of their performance and initiatives in selected areas.
The public observed the meeting and was offered the opportunity to communicate with the NRC regarding Exelons performance at Limerick and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations. At the end of the meeting, the NRC answered questions from the public including a discussion of local rezoning activities, the sale of a local airport, plant transients during 2007, dry cask storage plans and designs, emergency sirens, and security at Limerick.
