SUMMARY

OF THE MARCH 23, 2006, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE POINT BEACH END-OF-CYCLE PLANT PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT On March 23, 2006, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the Two Creeks Town Hall in Two Creeks, Wisconsin. The meeting was between NRC Region III management and Nuclear Management Company (NMC) representatives to discuss the NRCs assessment of Point Beachs safety performance for the period from January 1 through December 31, 2005. The meeting notice and NRC presentation slides can be found in ADAMS as ML060670316 and , respectively. A list of NRC and licensee meeting participants can be found in the attached Enclosure.

The NRC began the meeting with an overview of the NRCs Reactor Oversight Process (ROP),

national ROP results, and the Action Matrix in general. This was followed by a discussion of the NRCs assessment of Point Beachs performance in the calendar year 2005, which was documented in the March 2, 2006, end-of-cycle assessment letter. As part of the regulatory performance meeting, NMC responded to the NRCs assessment and briefly discussed efforts to continue improvement in the engineering area. At the end of the meeting, members of the public were given the opportunity to ask questions of NRC officials.
