Reference:

1) NRC Regulatory Issue Summary 2009-06, Importance of Giving NRC Advance Notice of Intent to Pursue License Renewal, dated June 15, 2009.

In the referenced letter, the NRC described the importance of providing advance notice of the intent to pursue license renewal.

This letter provides notification that Northern States Power Company, a Minnesota corporation, doing business as Xcel Energy, hereafter NSPM, is planning to submit an application for the second renewed license for the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant, in the first quarter of 2023.

The certificate of need for the Monticello Nuclear Power Generating Plant Independent Spent Fuel Storage Facility (ISFSI) is pending review by the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission.

Summary of Commitments This letter makes no new commitments and no revisions to existing commitments.
