TIO'OC August 26, 1980 Docket Nos. 50-213 50-245 A01156 Mr. Boyce H. Grier Director, Region I Office of Inspection and Enforcement U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 631 Park Avenue King of Prussia, Pennsylvania 19406

References:

(1) B. H. Grier letter to W. G. Counsil, dated July 31, 1980 transmitting I&E Bulletin 80-19.

(2) B. H. Grier letter to W. G. Counsil, dated August 15, 1980 transmitting I&E Bulletin 80-19 Rev.1 Gentlemen:

Haddam Neck Plant Millstone Nuclear Power Station, Unit No. 1 Response to I&E Bulletin 80-19 Rev. 1 References (1) and (2) requested that Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company (CYAPCO) and Northeast Nuclear Energy Company (NNECO) review the reactor protective systems (RPS) at the Haddam Neck Plant and Millstone Unit No.1, respectively, to determine whether CP Clare Model HG2X-10ll mercury-wetted relays are used in the logic matrix.

CYAPC0 has determined that no such relays are used in the RPS at Haddam Neck. Similarly, NNECO has determined that no such relays are in use in the RPS at Millstone Unit No. 1.

We trust this sufficiently addresses the concerns of I&E Bulletin 80-19, Revision 1 for these two plants.

Very truly yours, CONNECTICUT YANKEE ATOMIC POWER COMPANY NORTHEAST NUCLEAR ENERGY COMPANY
