Since the Containment Sump Level Monitoring System was monitored by the auxiliary alarm annunciator, the Containment Sump Level Monitoring System was declared inoperable and action state-l ment 3.4.7.1.b was entered.

1 This occurrence constituted operation in a degraded mode in accord-ance with technical specification 6.9.1.9.b.

DESIGNATION OF APPARENT CAUSE OF OCCURRENCE:

Component failure.

The auxiliary alarm annunciator was iaoperable due

,[

to the failure of a series of integrated circuit chips.

I'

. ANALYSIS OF OCCURRENCE:

p Technical specification 3.4.7.1 requires:

With only two of the required leakage detection systems i

operable, operation may continue for up to 30 days provided containment atmosphere grab samples are obtained j

and analyzed at least once per 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
; otherwise, be in hot standby within the next 6 hours6.944444e-5 days
0.00167 hours
9.920635e-6 weeks
2.283e-6 months
and in cold shutdown 1

CORRECTIVE ACTION

The requirements of technical specification 3.4.7.1 were complied with.

The annunciator was removed from service. In order to monitor contain-l ment sump level, a meter was connected across the input to'the Auxiliary

' Alarm System from the containment sump pump'to monitor start-stop times l

A series of integrated circuit! chips was replaced.

The annunciator was l-returned to service and-tested satisfactorily.

At 1430 hours0.0166 days
0.397 hours
0.00236 weeks
5.44115e-4 months
, August 28, 1981, the-Containment Sump Level Monitoring' System was l-declared operable, and action statement 3.4.7.1.b was terminated.
